The international workshop The Summer School aims to develop strategies related to the development of tourism in the valley of Solanas and along the coastal area of the south-eastern part of Sardinia. The approach is alternative to the creation of traditional scenarios of seasonal tourism, focusing not only on the coast but inland. The strategic project aims to create new scenarios of environmentally sustainable development through the exploitation of economies and existing architectural and cultural resources of the area. The geo-morphological analysis of the area highlighted the landmarks which make up the physical borders: the Regional Park of the Seven Brothers in the north, the coast and the pocket beach in the south, the Rio Solanas. Human interventions, that inevitably changed the territory are the construction of the road SP125 and the town on the bottom of the valley near the sea, breeding of sheep that caused the erosion of the river plain. The main resources, deep-rooted in tradition and with great economic potential, are the breeding, the production process of cheese, wine, food and the tourism. The urban park and slow mobility All the possibilities and weaknesses of the territorial system of Solanas were highlighted by the SWOT analysis. The strategy include: rehabilitation of existing buildings, reconstruction of scenic paths and creation of new ones, the articulation of a new information system deployed throughout the country. Economic and cultural activities are: sagras and music festivals, educational center for foreign students, sustainable eco-tourism. The chosen areas are: the area near Monte Mesu (behind the town), middle one in the valley near the Rio and the archaeological area of ​​Saint Barbara (ancient nuragic settlement). Territorial and schematic sections underline the possible activities. The photomontages are the final part of the work. They aren’t projects but symbolic proposals.
