The Communcation Designers of DIA – Dittel Architekten developed the name, logo and menu for the new café, set up in the 2nd floor of Breuninger´s flagship store in Stuttgart.


Being at GENT´s one finds a classic café. Elegance, sovereignty and masculinity are the transported values. The name GENT´S describes the pleasant character and classiness of a gentleman in the original meaning and therefore eminently suits the style and orientation of the café. Centre stage here takes a distinct standard of quality and an excellent service. This is emphasised by the logo and the menu. The simple logo gets the air of elegance and sovereignty by the mixture of a classic and a geometrical font. Beyond that a harmonic contrast between black and white occurs that brings a high profile about concerning the logo. The menu contains board of smoked oak with knotholes that perfectly matches the peachiness of the café. The timber is refined by a golden laser engraving of the logo. At the upper edge of the wooden board the menu is attached by a big golden brazen clip. The menu itself contrasts the more rough timber by its processed fine paper of bronze with golden foil stamping. The ensemble takes a classically simple effect and features its fair surface feel.
