‘White Bathroom’ was part of a second phase of renovation for a couple with a young daughter on the Upper West Side. The challenge was to pack a lot of storage into a small space—49 square feet—while maintaining a clean, open aesthetic. The clients wanted this primary bath to be practical for everyday use but simultaneously fun for the young daughter. To achieve this balance, the white cabinetry is offset by a striking flooring of Carrera pebbles in blue resin, the color palette of which extends to the accent that wraps around the space. The Carrera marble reappears in the countertop and stunning bathtub deck. Adjacent wall surfaces are finished in a white subway tile and align with the basic architecture of the larger building. The far tile wall features a whimsical arrangement of nooks for toiletries. Ample storage space was designed for the wife, who works at L’Oreal, to store a large collection of cosmetics and other beauty products. A custom double mirrored cabinet provides storage above the vanity and toilet and help open up an otherwise small space; a single cabinet, painted stray satin lacquer white, hangs opposite.
