Municipal kindergarten, Gliwice – 1st prize | Krzysztof Zalewski

The concept of a public kindergarten awarded with the 1st prize in architectural competition. The building was designed for about 150 children (6 groups). The area of the building is 1,600 m2. The area (around the building, recreational and educational sites) of the project is 0.7 ha. The main idea of the project was to create a modern building of unique architecture that will be attractive, friendly and appealing to children especially. This effect is achieved by implementation of natural materials, vibrant and bright colors and the use of sunlight inside the building. Architectural design and functional planning of the facility relate to the European standards for this type of buildings and provide high aesthetics and energy-efficiency of the object. It is designed as a one-storey facility with a two-storey part in front of the building. The kindergarten is divided into several functional segments connected with one another . There is also a multi-functional hall which apart from communication functions gives additional space and can be easily adapted for special occasions (exhibitions, group games, children balls, etc.).
