L’appartamento occupa una superficie di circa 320 mq in un edificio di pregio ad uso residenziale ed uffici situato in prossimità del centro storico di Firenze. L’appartamento si sviluppa al secondo e terzo piano dell’edificio. La ristrutturazione effettuata è stata sostanzialmente di tipo conservativo nel rispetto della superficie utile dello stato atttuale, sono state apportate solo alcune modifiche necessarie per una migliore distribuzione delle funzioni abitative. É stata posta molta attenzione agli interni, i quali dovevano ospitare una importante collezione d’arte dei proprietari. Tre o quattro sono gli interventi “forti”, realizzati su disegno e che qualificano l’intero lavoro, basato su colori caldi e l’uso del legno di rovere (pavimenti). Il primo intervento “forte” è una grande scala circolare con un diametro di oltre 2m, situata nel vano di ingresso, la scala è interamente verniciata di colore bianco e realizzata in ferro con una balaustra traforata al laser con motivi floreali. Il secondo intervento “forte” è il camino, inglobato in un mobile organico, realizzato in legno laccato , esso avvolge come una radice la parete del soggiorno e del pranzo, incorniciando in modo naturale la cupola del Brunelleschi, visibile da una finestra. Il terzo intervento ”forte” è il corridoio che conduce alle camere da letto e alla terrazza, trattato con un rivestimento a specchi che dilatano lo spazio,diventando così una sorta di percorso metafisico. Il quarto intervento “ forte” è la grande porta a vetri scorrevole, serigrafata con lo stesso motivo floreale della scala, la porta separa la cucina ( realizzata anch’essa su disegno) dal soggiorno. Insieme a tutti questi interventi “forti” ci sono altri episodi e particolari forse meno spettacolari ma che ci accompagnano e ci sorprendono in tutti gli spazi della casa; bagni, guardaroba, camera padronale ecc. The apartment occupies an area of about 320 square metres in an attractive building for residential and offices use, located in the centre of Florence; it is developed on the second and third floor attic. The renovation of this apartment has been substantially conservative in respect of the usable area, only a few structural modifications have been necessary for a better distribution of housing functions. Instead it is paid much attention to the interiors which had to leave space to allow an important art collection of the owners. Three or four are the “strong” actions , custom-designed that qualify the entire work, on a base of warm colours and use of oakwood ( floors). The first “ strong” action is a large circular staircase with a diameter of more than two metres, located in the entrance connecting the two floors of the apartment. The staircase is entirely made of white varnished iron and it is characterized by a laser-cut balaustrade with a floral pattern. The second “strong” action is a fireplace enclosed in a kind of organic coating as a root, made in white laquered wood. It wraps on the wall of the living and dining room and frames in a natural way the Brunelleschi’s dome, visible from a window. The third ”strong” action is the passageway that leads to bedrooms and terrace, treated with a coating of mirrors it opens up space becoming a metaphysical path. As fourth “strong“ action there is a large sliding glass door, screen-printed with the same floral pattern of the staircase, which separates the kitchen (custom-designed) from the living room. Together with these actions there are other episodes and details less showy, but these accompanying and surprise us in all areas of the house, bathroom, wardrobe, master bedroom ect.
