The main purpose of this project is to conceive a building that contains the cultural activity such as exhibitions, performances, concerts, conferences… and at the same time it represents the enterprising spirit of the entity. The site is located between buildings, the shape is like a polygon and it crosses the block in the way to the river. So the building will have two facades, the historic one, linked to the memory of the city and the contemporary one that looks to the Clariano River. The project represents a big volume formed by two pieces which are intersected, creating a big garden in the private courtyard. The main entrance is in the historic façade, through a low height we arrive to a high space where all the rooms look into. The big hall has a lot of functions, like reception, foyer and multipurpose area that can be used in exhibitions and meetings. There are a lot of crossed views, from here to the café, the office, the council room, the exhibition hall, the auditorium… creating relationships but maintaining their own independence. There are some big skylights in the high central part that produce a great lighting of the space. This treatment is taken to the design of the façade of the courtyard; big hollows give sense of depth and frame the sights to the landscape. The hierarchy of the spaces is reached by playing with the different heights. The garden becomes the focus of the perspective and the big hollows enter the light into the inner spaces. [ES] El uso característico del edificio es cultural, dedicado básicamente a la promoción de actividades culturales de todo tipo, como exposiciones, representaciones, conciertos, conferencias… que representan el espíritu emprendedor de la entidad. El edificio tiene dos alzados significativos, uno histórico y vinculado a la memoria de todos los ciudadanos y otro contemporáneo que mira a la vertiente verde, con el río Clariano como fondo de perspectiva. El proyecto consta de dos grandes volúmenes maclados que vuelcan a un patio privado ajardinado y a través de él, hacia el río Clariano. El acceso principal al edificio se produce por la fachada protegida de la Casa Llorens y a través de una altura controlada se da paso a un gran vestíbulo con dobles y triples alturas libres, al que vuelcan todas las estancias. Es un vestíbulo multifuncional, actúa como zona de recepción, foyer del salón de actos y al mismo tiempo como sala multiusos para exposiciones y representaciones. Desde el vestíbulo se tienen diferentes vistas cruzadas con las distintas partes del edificio como la cafetería, oficinas, sala de consejo, sala de exposiciones, salón de actos…creando un vínculo visual entre ellas pero manteniendo su independencia funcional. Unos grandes lucernarios centrales de forma abocinada, producen unos importantes focos de luz que fluye por las paredes de hormigón y dan carácter muy especial al espacio. Este tratamiento se lleva también a la fachada que da al patio, creando grandes huecos abocinados, que dan profundidad y enmarcan las vistas a través de la fachada. La jerarquía de espacios se percibe mediante el juego de alturas de las distintas zonas. El jardín como fondo de perspectiva y los lucernarios como focos cenitales, son las referencias claras del proyecto.
