This project was a competition in which the contestants were supposed to design the most important city interchange for both buses and trams in a quickly developing, postindustrial city in Poland. Our main idea was to create a light structure fully integrated with all the faciliteIs needed in a modern city such as bike rental, ticket sale, infromation spots etc. Because of the grament industry, which has had a great impact on both urban and architectural matters of Lodz, we have decided to get inspiration from threads, stretched canvas and yarn itself. By combining the light structure with heavy steel I-joists we wanted to preserve the industrial spirit in a modern convention. We wanted to integrate the roof with the props in a smooth and refined way so that both passengers and car drivers would not feel intimidated with the new proposed, light, modern structure.
