Site specific + repeatable approach Seattle is the Emerald City: we don’t take it as a scene but as a landscape to gain the public chance. Let’s think the rainforest as a special public space and overcome the dichotomy between wilderness and culture in a new urban landscape, very natural as well very artificial: it’s the Emerald City Hub. Identity + ecology ECH displays geographic contents and celebrates the temperate rainforest around as a cultural and environmental value. Seattle is also the Rain City, so we use rain as design and ecological device. Strategy + space ECH is a clear strategy and a bold space, made of light, texture, reflection, shade, fog, wind whispers, ferns swishes, sparkling of asphalt and water, a tableau vivant of countless shades of green. Facilities + economy Pavilions for shops, studios, restaurants, sports accessories rental, info points and base for sightseeing tour, souvenir store, supplement the open air activities and generate new business opportunities. Active field ECH is a flexible precious common field, enriching users with lots of different experiences. Under the trees canopy or in sunny clearings, you find sport facilities, playgrounds, fields to rest, celebrate (in sight of Memorial Wall), have open air parties, enjoy great events in the Large Clearing… New space categories We think up a plot of interlacing connections among ethic and esthetic items, that can’t be described by traditional typology: not just a park, also a huge urban playground, an urban connector, a social stage and an ecological machine.
