steininger.designers are well-known for their astonishing kitchens, which are characterized by design that is sophisticated yet unobtrusive and very functional. The innovative use of new and spectacular materials sets the kitchens apart. Anodized aluminum, stone, and concrete distinguish the unique kitchen models. The designers from Upper Austria are full of passion and truly competent, which results in houses, penthouses, lofts, apartments, and last but not least custom-made kitchens - all of which are fit for a king. The beautiful home located above Krems along the Danube is a prime and beautiful example for extraordinary ability. Krems is situated in the gorgeous Wachau region, which is known for its Mediterranean climate and their internationally acclaimed white wines. In 2000 UNESCO declared it as one of the world heritage sites. Together with the rest of the house, the kitchen was specifically designed to completely meet the style of living of the family of six. It functions as a kitchen living room and center of communication and hence it is an essential part of the design concept: The white ambiance serves as a base and also as the stage for the four kids and a family full of life, which gives the cool, pure design some color and warmth. The walls of the large kitchen block are matt-lacquered; the counter top, which is made of white artificial stone, serves as the perfect prep, cooking and serving station at the same time. The integrated bar area is lined with bar stools which allow the curious onlookers to watch the cooking progress. The storage unit next to the working station is almost invisible as it is hidden behind a white door. The various areas are ergonomically designed; working in the kitchen is convenient and easy. The appliances are out-of-sight yet easily reachable as the can be pulled-out from the wall. All it takes is one hand movement. Cooking utensils and spices are stored in the kitchen block in drawers that don’t have a handle. The drawers are lined with open shelves which loosen up the classic aesthetics. Slanted windows were built in order to maximize the stream of daylight. A long white side board runs below the slanted windows from the kitchen to the living area, where the big dining table is at. The media center is on white shelves right next to it. The classic kitchen-living opens up to two terraces which offer splendid views. This kitchen living room is exemplary for how functionality can be combined with contemporary aesthetics and living comfort for the whole family.
