Amparo’s Museum building is located within the historical center of the city of Puebla. The museum is composed by various colonial buildings of great historical value and architectonical. Nowadays, the museum holds a permanent collection of 4,800 prehispanic pieces, some given by the INAH and other from private collections. There is another permanent collection of baroque art and one more of contemporary art including pieces from notable artists such as Javier Marín, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Vicente Rojo, Manuel Felguérez and Sebastián. For the rehabilitation and resize of the building, TEN Arquitectos took in account diverse criteria, such as: The architectonical modernization of the spaces and of its museographic script: it is planned to use a new design proposal to update the way of exhibiting and walk through the museum’s different collections; by adding a vestibule, we motivate the intercommunication between the collections, but at the same time they can be accessed and enjoyed independently. In the same way, we establish a new way to intercommunicate the museum’s services, so the public and private aspects could be separated and work more efficiently. Create more temporary exhibition spaces: the museum wants to stay at the forefront in a constant renewal that supports one of the most important objectives of the museum such as social, educational and cultural service. With the addition of these new spaces, the purpose it’s being impelled. Modernization of electromechanical, structural and media systems: Due to the history of the museum, its age, the different interventions, the constant use, its historical value and the client´s interest in preserving this legacy, it is important to renew, improve and determinate the current condition of the various MEP systems, and also structural. The architectural proposal includes the opportune maintenance of the entire building. Benefit the user with the view that exists in the roof of the building, creating spaces like terraces and gardens. Therefore, visitors will be motivated to know another aspect of the city of Puebla, showing them the magnificent views of the different domes, towers, churches and natural landscape that haven´t been exploited previously in any other part of the city. [SP] El edificio del Museo Amparo se ubica en el centro histórico de la ciudad de Puebla. El museo está conformado por varios edificios coloniales de gran valor histórico. Al presente, el museo cuenta con una colección permanente de 4 mil 800 piezas prehispánicas, unas entregadas a custodia por el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia y otras de colecciones privadas. Existe otra colección permanente de arte virreinal y una más de arte contemporáneo con pinturas de artistas destacados como Javier Marín, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Vicente Rojo, Manuel Felguérez, etc. y esculturas de Sebastián. Para el diseño de remodelación y ampliación del edificio se tomaron en cuenta diversos criterios, entre los que destacan: Modernización arquitectónica de los espacios y de su guión museográfico: se planea utilizar la nueva propuesta de diseño para modernizar la forma de exhibir y navegar las diferentes colecciones del museo. Vestibulando a las mismas de tal forma que se impulse la intercomunicación entre ellas pero, al mismo tiempo, se accedan de manera independiente y se disfruten de la misma forma, sin que intervenga el paso por otra colección para llegar a la deseada. De la misma forma, se plantea una nueva forma de intercomunicación de los servicios del museo para separar los aspectos públicos de los privados y hacerlo más eficiente. Crear más espacios de exhibición temporal: el museo desea mantenerse a la vanguardia y en una renovación constante que apoye uno de los objetivos más importantes del mismo: el servicio social, educativo y cultural. Con la suma de estos nuevos espacios, se sigue impulsando este propósito. Modernización de los sistemas de instalaciones electromecánicas, mediáticas y estructurales: debido a la historia del museo: su edad, las diferentes intervenciones, el uso continuo que tiene, su valor histórico y el interés del cliente por preservar este legado, es importante renovar, mejorar y determinar el estado actual de los diversos sistemas de instalaciones y, sobre todo, estructurales. Esta intervención arquitectónica propuesta, incluye el oportuno mantenimiento del edificio en su totalidad. Beneficiar al usuario de las vistas que existen en las azoteas del edificio: creando espacios de terrazas exteriores y jardines, se motivará al visitante a que conozca otro aspecto de la ciudad de Puebla, enseñando las magníficas vistas de las diversas cúpulas, torres, iglesias y paisaje natural que se tienen y no se han explotado previamente en ningún lugar de esta ciudad.
