The arts and the square. The surprise of sociality. The New York Theater City is a square on which theaters, with their large common foyer and rooms of artists, overlook. It is a flexible space, open at the South-West towards the high line and to discover through the two gaps to East, where the urban fabric is more dense. It is a place to discover also through the path in the front of the building, characterized by metallic pipes that indicate the presence of this space of the theater and remind the verticality of the city. Let’s imagine that the big open spaces, inside and outside, support the sociality and the artistic expressions and that the square can be a meeting point between the stage and the audience. The flexibility of this space allows to have two classic theaters with a frontal scene towards the stalls. The partition wall between the theaters is dismantible and allows to have an only theater on which the scene overlooks 360 degrees on the stalls. The theaters are suitable for experimental shows because the interaction between actors and spectators is total.
