The winning project is a residential villa of 3 floors with a total of 630 square meters. The villa is part of a major residential complex of 713 units designed by Matteo Nunziati in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The origin of the luxurious building is a specific design philosophy, which seeks to reconcile an essential and modern style with the Arabic tradition. The front windows are marked with openable panels that protect from the sunshine and are carved with a Mashrabiya or Shanasheel, an ancient Arabic decoration. The coating material is coral stone typical of the place. The contrast between the rich Arabic decoration and the geometric simplicity of contemporary forms, are major features of this architecture, with a very elegant effect and at the same time simple and functional. [IT] Il progetto è una villa residenziale di 3 piani per un totale di 630 metri quadrati. La villa fa parte di un rilevante complesso residenziale di 713 unità abitative ideato da Matteo Nunziati a Jeddah in Arabia Saudita. All’origine del lussuoso edificio una precisa filosofia progettuale, che intende conciliare uno stile essenziale e modernissimo con la tradizione araba. Le finestre sulla facciata sono contraddistinte da pannelli apribili che proteggono dall’irradiamento solare e sono lavorati con una Mashrabiya o Shanasheel, antica decorazione araba. Il materiale di rivestimento è in pietra corallina tipica del luogo. Il contrasto fra il ricco decorativismo arabo e l’essenzialità geometrica delle forme contemporanee, caratterizzano fortemente questa architettura, con un effetto di grande eleganza e al tempo stesso di sobrietà e funzionalità.
