Hospitality has always been one of the main customers’ service, but sometimes is detaching itself from the environment and thus creating aseptic and too much comforting architectures. Today, customer has changed, he is much more demanding and in search of a “guest experience”, able to get him in touch with the local atmosphere. Room under the moon has just one common soul all over the world while “bones” and “skin” are the result of the contamination of the surrounding environment: genius loci. This makes the project unique and recognizable but never inappropriate and given for granted. Its major strength is to draw energy from the region, from the people, from the climate and turning it into material, always keeping a coherent architectural language. Spontaneous architecture, by its nature, uses materials easily available on site, and it is therefore defined by geological, ecological and climate characteristics of the region. Built by the community using traditional tools, these structures are very practical, with high energetic efficiency and harmonically melt into the landscape. They have most of the qualities we are searching in the “green architecture”; they are buildings meeting the requirements and concerns regarding this period of climate changes. Forests in the Northern and Southern hemispheres have always supplied spontaneous building with building materials. The structural properties of their wood, its toughness and length make it ideal for the building structure, as well as for walls, floors and roofs. Exploiting both physical (related to climate) and esthetical (related to the kind of plant) characteristics. This allows a natural wide range of colors and textures, enriched with typically local materials and manufacturing such as finely cut metals, painted ceramics, handmade textiles, blown glasses, terracotta and everything the traditional handcraft can offer us.
