Città dello Sport a Tor Vergata

Dal 2007 L’Architetto Maria Irene Cardillo è parte del Technical team per lo sviluppo in fase esecutiva della Città dello Sport a Tor Vergata a Roma, progetto dell’Architetto Santiago Calatrava LLC, con l’incarico per la progettazione architettonica esecutiva del Palasport, Piscine olimpioniche e sistemazioni esterne. Il progetto per la “Città dello Sport” nasce dall’esigenza di realizzare una struttura idonea ad ospitare il “grande evento” dei mondiali di nuoto del 2009: viene quindi sviluppato un masterplan che comprende non solo impianti sportivi, coperti e scoperti, servizi ed infrastrutture di supporto, ma anche un anello, a ricalcare l’impianto del Circo Massimo, che crea una diretta connessione con l’area universitaria a nord, per la quale Santiago Calatrava ipotizza un nuovo edificio con uno sviluppo a spirale da porre in opposizione all’erigendo polo sportivo. Il tutto in un’ottica lungimirante di ricostruzione del tessuto urbano che va al di là del periodo della manifestazione sportiva e che mira piuttosto a porre i presupposti per la creazione di un nuovo “pezzo” di città, rioccupando quell’ area di Tor Vergata che già ospitò le riunioni oceaniche del Giubileo del 2000. Città dello Sport, quindi, proposta non solo come degno scenario di importanti eventi sportivi, ma anche come nuovo polo per grandi eventi offerto alla città di Roma.

Since 2007, Architect Maria Irene Cardillo is part of the Technical Team for the project of the City of Sport at Tor Vergata in Rome, a project by architect Santiago Calatrava LLC, with the commission for the architectural execution project of the Palasport, Olympic pool and external systems. The design for the “City of Sports” was born from the need to build a suitable structure to house the “major event” of the 2009 World Aquatics: a master plan is then developed that not only includes sports facilities, indoor and outdoor, services and supporting infrastructure, but also a ring, to trace the installation of the Circus Maximus, which creates a direct connection to the university area to the north, for which Santiago Calatrava suggests a new building with a spiral to be placed in opposition to ‘Sports erecting pole. All subject to forward-looking reconstruction of the urban fabric that goes beyond the period of the sporting event that is intended rather to lay the premises for the creation of a new “piece” of the city, reoccupy THAT ‘area of Tor Vergata that already hosted the meetings of the ocean Jubilee of 2000. City of Sport, therefore, proposed not only as a worthy backdrop of major sporting events, but also as a new center for major events offered the city of Rome.
