Indoor pool for an hotel in Mallorca | A2arquitectos

In 1967, a small hotel, Hotel Castell dels Hams, was established on the island of Majorca amid the Mediterranean vegetation. Over time, and through subtle improvements and extensions. The last of the alterations, meant to celebrate the Mediterranean light and the location's idyllic bond with nature, turned the hotel into much more than just a holiday destination. The work centred on replacing the covering and enclosure of the existing heated pool. The main pool area is adorned with a series of square openings for windows in the roof that allow the light to flood into the area. The pool was originally connected to what was once considered the back of the hotel, where it was confined to a space that was clearly being wasted. The challenge of the project was not only to stop the new areas from being used as secondary features, but to ensure they were used to highlight the hotel's sunniest facade. [SP] Piscina Climatizada para un Hotel en Mallorca La intervención se centraba en sustituir la cubrición y cierre de la piscina climatizada existente de un hotel, aprovechando el vaso de la misma. La solución propuesta consiste en una pieza horadada por una serie de perforaciones cuadradas que permiten que la luz inunde el interior. El reto del proyecto fue conseguir que la nueva pieza sirviera para enaltecer y priorizar la fachada más soleada del hotel. Esta fachada hoy, bajo sus pies, tiene una cubierta-jardín salpicada de lucernarios, que mediante su juego, la convierten en la fachada principal del proyecto. Este juego de huecos en la cubierta genera en el interior una hermosa danza de reflejos de luz en las superficies del agua, paredes y techo, a lo largo del día y de las estaciones del año, intensificado por el carácter homogéneo y mismo tratamiento que se le da igualmente a los cerramientos verticales.
