Architecture is developing. New material and hi-spec product push the development of architecture. It seems like the more you add, the more value you add to the architecture. What we wanted is a different kind of value. Light and wind, water and shadow are not new materials to but there are materials that all ways interact with architecture. When you feel hot you can go into the shade or look at water and feel cool, experiencing a soft light or a wind, these things are something common everyday experience. By re-evaluating, rethinking and using, are we not able to add value to architecture? For this project the creation of a big roof creates a large shadow cast and the building is cooled using water ponds which will cool down before entering the building. This is a system that we hope to achieve. Thinking of being environmentally friendly does not mean you respond with technology but to try to incorporate the natural feature to improve the living condition. As we live in a material world, it is hard to see the value of simple things. To look back at the past and to enhance the feeling of simples things is something we try to achieve.
