The owner of this mid-century home wanted a kitchen that respected the building's history while also feeling contemporary. The owner - a developer - and the architects for the project - Heliotrope - brought in Henrybuilt to resolve the kitchen. Heliotrope had drawn a schematic plan, which Henrybuilt evolved during design from an L into a more open configuration, adding the tall window to the right of the sink. The design is based on a small number of simple, well proportioned 'floating' units, each optimized for function and positioned to maximize the feeling of openness.
