The proposal originated from a small restructuration of an urban square, - Cais do Sodre – and soon it realized that there were a missing opportunity for the entire Urban fabric of the city. Lisbon was born with a strong connection with the river but now, due to the current railway system that from the nineteenth century cuts alongside the river from both sides separating the city from one of its most important elements. At its center Lisbon has a space interconnected with the heart of the city with a potentiality of a creation for a new quality urban space: the area from Cais do Sodre to Terreiro do Paço occupies a central position but lacks of identity and structure that could allow from a better living of the river. The riverside redefine with a new margin that connects the program with the public– a car silo, a museum and a panoramic view restaurant. Tying all up, an above ground pedestrian passage, a red carpet that welcomes the pedestrian and enters all the main buildings and public spaces. Alongside this privileged walk we can find a panoramic restaurant, a vertical beam, a modern lighthouse, reminiscent of the old Portuguese caravel that serves as a contemporary symbol from the new urban space.
