Rigi Kaltbad presents a natural landscape of extraordinary beauty. The mountain overlooking the Lake of the Four Forest Cantons commands a beautiful view dominated by the peaks of the Central Alps. This original environment permitted to house a project in close relation both with the natural context and the village of Rigi Kaltbad. The project consists of two interrelated parts: - the village square - the thermal baths and a spa beneath the square. The thermal bath will be accessible for everybody; the spa for adults only. The new village square appears as a “mineral garden” embellished by eight skylights, that bring the natural light in the interior, and by a vast observation deck from which the visitors can enjoy a beautiful view. The square is delimited to the east by the planned railway Vitznau-Rigi and to the west by a circular tower that represents both the access to the facility and the link to the cableway to Weggis. [IT] Rigi Kaltbad offre un incontaminato paesaggio naturale di straordinaria bellezza. Dalla montagna, che domina il Lago dei Quattro Cantoni, si gode un orizzonte dominato dalle cime delle Alpi centrali. Un ambiente originale, nel quale ha saputo adattarsi l’idea di un nuovo progetto. Un progetto che é in stretta relazione sia con il contesto naturale che con la piccola realtà cittadina di Rigi Kaltbad. Lo spazio si divide in due parti, che sono strettamente collegate tra loro: - la piazza del paese - i nuovi bagni e la spa posti sotto la piazza. I bagni sono accessibili a tutti; la spa solo agli adulti. La nuova piazza del paese si presenta come un “giardino minerale” da cui “spuntano” otto lucernari che durante il giorno riflettono la luce all’interno degli spazi del bagno sottostante. La piazza è delimitata ad est dall’edificio della funivia Vitznau-Rigi e ad ovest da una piccola torre che rappresenta sia l’accesso alla struttura che il collegamento con la funivia per Weggis.
