Ren- meaning ‘Circle of People’ in Chinese, the entire design is inspired from a simple geometric form the “Circle”. The circular form becomes the main basis of Design and has been widely used in the interiors be it the floor, ceiling, walls and column paneling.The space is very linear and divided into 2 main sections, a 40’-0’’ long bar and dance floor, two ancillary lounges are “attached’’ to the Bar that is the smoking lounge and the VIP lounge. Three primary derivations: Ripples - circular form created on splashing of water. Rings – hollow circular forms. Clusters – grouping of circular forms. RIPPLES The pattern is used as ceiling design in the lounge areas, coloured RED in the smoking, PURPLE (signifying royalty) in the VIP colour defining the USE. RINGS 3 massive columns inherited on site are used as a KEY design element. The columns are wrapped with glossy steel rings of different widths and diameter, which result in a very unique and highly reflective surface. The colour changing led lights reflect on these varying diameter steel rings creating a psychedelic effect. CLUSTER The ceiling is designed in two layers, the inner layer was painted red-gold and the outer one is punctured with circles and finished with black-gold. The intermediate space is lit, which creates a great play of shadow and also gives visual depth seen in two colours. A cluster of steel pipes of different diameters and lengths are hung from the ceiling over the bar area and form a WAVE pattern flowing over the monolithic granite bar counter adding fluidity to the linear format.
