In occasion of the project "Get your Spire", created by "Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo" in order to promote the fundraising for the most fragile architectural elements of the Dome cathedral, LASCIAlaSCIA is in charge of the set up of the exhibition to sensitize the audience on this topic. The exhibition develops on the two sides of the monument. On the south side, facing Palazzo Reale, a photographic film shows the history of the construction site from the firsts decades of 1900 until now and it is divided in topics (the facade, the main spire, the spires, the interior and the current works). This is made of some black and white images kept in the archive and some pictures by Gabriele Basilico and Marco Anelli. On the north side, on Vittorio Emanuele gallery, there is an interactive section made of 5 "Istituto Luce" short movies showing the progress of the works and the history of the construction site. This part of the project is made of a map of the dome created on a construction site platform. This is also the place for some conical elements built in order to contain the interactive monitors. It is the cathedral in the construction site, it is the discovery of an important matter, not very popular so far. The cones, made in order to recall the marble pinnacle, contain the topic explanation of the initiative: The visitor must approach, must look into it, focusing on the viewer in order to check on the renovation works and to find out the real issue. Through evocative and meaningful shapes the aim is to approach and sensitize the citizens of Milan and all others, on the delicate and important matter of the preservation of their cathedral. The Dome of Milan, the cathedral of the citizens of Milan, is owned by the city and it asks to the city to be heard.
