La Maison de Jeanne is renovation of a bungalow built in the mid 1960's. The design featured the typical fractured stones at the bottom, white painted bricks in the middle and sidings on top connecting to the timbers. To bring the house up to date a new facade was built around the existing structure with an insulation layer and a brick layer. The plastic sidings got replaced bij natural oak, the black shingles with ceramic tiles on one side and reed on top and de the other side. The attic was included to the living spaces and got insulated with rockwool. And last but not least new windows. Every aspect of this proveded the building of better thermal inertia. At the same time these natural materials form a pleasant interaction with eachother. This also emphasize the assemetric layout of splitlevel building.
