Canvas | Surface Developments

Our newest and most exciting project to date: Canvas, located on Brighton Beach Park and facing the Rideau River in old Ottawa South, is the embodiment of our design philosophy. We’ve matched a premiere location with fantastic river views and a refined architectural expression to create 4 exclusive residences of unmatched character. The inspiration for this project comes from the work of acclaimed artist Christopher Griffin. We've commissioned an entire collection of paintings and it’s these 8 canvasses that form the heart of of this innovative new project. Each house comes with one of these exclusive works of art and all 8 will be enamel printed on to glass panels which will be mounted on second floor balconies to act as wind and privacy screens. These movable glass canvasses will turn the street into a dynamic outdoor gallery. They will be a focal point from the interior of the houses during the day and will cast a soft glow at night towards the street. The artist will also create an original concrete stucco mural to envelop the west facade that faces the park. It's a unique and original vision that will help create 4 outstanding showpiece homes. Complimenting Christopher’s work is a modern and refined architecture with a clear sense of purpose. Built for tomorrow and for the contemporary family, these homes feature floor to ceiling windows, large welcoming porches, family rooms with 12’ high ceilings that open to private backyards, open concept interiors, home automation technology, and roof top terraces that look out on to the river. Inside and out these homes are designed to impress and satisfy the most refined expectations.
