EG-1 Chaise Loungue | Enrique Greenwell
Steel, leather and wood blend into comfort Dallas / United States / 2004
2
EG-1 Chaise Longue is an approach at blending three distinct materials into a comfortable aesthetic solution that can also be perceived as a sculptural element for interiors. Design should focus on showing function and how materials behave, therefore the main frame, made of laminated wood is designed as a flexing “spring” that adapts to body weight, whereas the main stainless steel sub frame acts as the element that supports the leather seat. Each material is attached to the other by sturdy stainless steel bolts. The leather is stuffed to provide more comfort and the whole system is intended to have a bouncy reaction to movement.
