The aim of the pavilion is to promote new fast trains, particularly the Freccia Rossa (Red Arrow) which can cover Milano-Rome in 2h 59m, and construct a new image of modernity but still being connected to the history of the company and to the sensation of a travel on rails. Willing to bring the speed between the people the main interactivity of the pavilion is a 100m track on which anybody can race against the record man Usain Bolt, a Ferrari formula 1 car or even a Freccia Rossa train which are projected on the screen nearby the track by a projector running on a specific rail. Like a train entering in some of the Italian major stations covered by Freccia Rossa, the pavilion enlarges in plan like the rails do, to form a typical Train Station disposition. The tower brakes down the skin made of steel and real rails, and comes out diagonally searching for the height. In its 3 levels is possible to have a drink and look to the people running on the track nearby or to the magnificent cities hosting the pavilion. The steel structure of the tower is designed to be easy and fast to assemble. The whole pavilion can be assembled and ready to use in only 3 days, even if it’s long 126 meters and wide up to 16. Each meter is made of materials that are abundant in the Ferrovie dello Stato stockrooms, so the whole pavilion will not cost any money to the company and even its transport will be free of charge.
