Mixed-use development in Cremona. The group masterplan project: The brief called for an area development in the city of Cremona. The area should provide residences as well as a necessary services. The site was located on the border with a major road that was a source of noise and pollution. The concept evolved from the idea of separating the new development from the road by a construction of a green wall. That idea was later adjusted and the green wall turned it a green belt - great green urban park. The individual architectural project: The complex includes seven apartment blocks (overall 184 apartments) offering flats ranging from studio to 4-beds. Additionally, the most noticeable element of the composition of the complex is the 15-storey tall thin office block which hosts a half underground auditorium. The façade of the office block and the elevated part of the auditorium is clad with light stone. That same material is used then for the pavement in between the residential buildings, creating a pedestrian promenade that takes its beginning on the top of the auditorium and ends up in front of the new public library on the opposite site.
