I cherish Chinese native culture and even more I cherish the simple and effective Chinese vernacular architecture which was built at the background of low tech and less developed economy. Those houses were not rich people's mansions but they were the most instinctive reaction with respect to the law of life. This instinctive reaction showed the builder's sincerity to materials and construction methods and made the houses fulfill all the functions while regardless of forms. Those houses had a perfect relationship with human and nature; the owners felt fully relaxed inside and would never be constrained mentally or physically. This case calls a return to the basic construction methods of vernacular architecture as it has many benefits such as eco-friendly no pollution and can be changed flexibly. Nowadays high tech builders are becoming more and more expensive which increase the cost of construction but this case does not need high tech builders and reduces the cost. All the stuff in this space are created by 400X400 200X400 pine cuboids including exhibition stage document shelves wine storage shelves and bar stools and creating a pure space showing a return to the vernacular architecture. The design concept is also a consideration of the requirements of the client: changeable and reuse. As this is a renovation project as a temporary sales center so the client wish there could be little smell left by construction and decoration. The pine cuboids are solid themselves and we did not need any adhesive. We just arranged the pine cuboids to create things we need. We also did some local process to the pine cuboids when needed. We believe that the truly excellent art work comes from the most ordinary thing without any process. We used some rusted mushroom shaped iron for decoration in accordance with the pine wood in material and culture. The construction was very easy 15 security officers finished in one night.
