Proposed house in the grounds of clients existing house. The current house no longer meets our clients needs and it is their aim to downsize both their home and their garden, whilst creating a modern, efficient family home which is purpose designed for their way of life. The clients have a son who suffers from Autism and careful consideration has been given to his particular needs whilst developing the proposals and room layout. The site slopes to the south which naturally allows the house to be sunk into the landscape reducing the impact on the neighbouring properties. The courtyard layout has been developed to form a sheltered entrance to the north and to allow the main rooms of the house to enjoy the panoramic views of the valley and Ochil Hills to the south. A strong emphasis has be placed on the performance of the house, with consideration to given to design elements, such as room layouts and roof overhangs, as well as sustainable technologies, including ground source heat pumps and solar thermal collectors. As the project progresses we will continue to develop these principals to produce a successful and efficient home for the client.
