A new technology of vibration energy harvesters are installed in the pavement and rail tracks around the site and generate electricity. This is called Piezo electric effect - where certain materials when squeezed under the traffic load transform the mechanical energy into kinetic energy. This technology has been used in a few buildings/structures around the world.
