To live is to pass from one space to another, while doing your very best not to bump yourself - George Perec Rêveil 01is an implicit invitation to give oneself up to a dreamlike universe made of words. Beyond its conventional function, it is designed for interfering with the cycle of sleep through the pleasure (or need) to read before falling asleep. The book is arranged on the prism occasionally acting as a bookmark and hides the hour count. With a little tapping, the reading of the chosen text starts extricating itself with a soft and calm voice from the object’s speakers. Then, on a period of about fifteen minutes (mean time of falling asleep) the volume gradually reduces while the voice is decomposing… Until only formulating bits of words… Therefore, our private storyteller little by little sinks with us into a deep sleep… In the morning, he wakes us up by reading the daily AFP news ; reconnectiong us gradually with reality, the intimate voice then becomes a social voice.
