Building in the Alps was always influenced by the quest for the elemental, the simple, and an intelligent treatment of its specific topography. The three-group kindergarten was embedded in the hillside; on the one hand a building, but on the other an already integrated part of the surrounding landscape. The building combines memorability of form with the surprise and complexity of the interior and exterior room sequences. The concept evolved equally out of a consideration for the scale of the location as a village as well as being based on the children’s perspective.
