This swimming pool is an extension to Villa Siga Siga. The location is close to a mountaintop and one kilometer from the Greek coastline. From the site there is a view on a green valley; a protected natural landscape. From the pool there is a wide panoramic view along the Greek coastline. Uphill is a terrace platform that creates privacy and collects rainwater. The design concept allows for a wide panoramic view from the pool, the use of local materials and natural filling of the pool with rainwater. Two sides of the pool are borderless. The water is running over the edge and collected on a lower level. On these two sides there is the magnificent view, here it looks like the water is part of an endless ocean. The pool walls are clad with stones that are found on the premises and give the pool its site specific character. Rainwater is collected via the terraces and led into the rainwater tank. The roof of this tank is used as terrace that again has the benefits of a beautiful view. From the terrace you can jump into the pool below. The swimming pool is (re)filled with rainwater from the tank. The height of the rainwater tank allows for privacy towards the pool. The different terraces on different height refer to an old Greek tradition, where mountain locations are made suitable for agriculture or accommodation by creating horizontal terraces that have a façade/border from stacked natural stones. The different terraces around the pool allow for a comfortable seating area at different climates; sheltered when it’s windy and enjoying a cool breeze when it’s hot.
