The domeless two-story mosque stands in a neighborhood of Shaikh Khalifa Medical City.
The new mosque is a relocating of the designed to be relocating of the existing mosque which needs to be demolished for a new SKMC Hospital.
The rational grid plan allow for a certain amount of flexibility in circulation between the mosque program areas.
The building is considered to be a step forward to reshape the Islamic Architecture and the traditional regional influence in a modern language.
Although the massing of the building is undoubtedly that of a mosque, it's a resolutely futuristic approach, perhaps mindful of how controversial a more traditional looking building could be.
