PLAN FOR THE HISTORIC CENTER OF ODIVELAS The Detailed Plan of the Historic Center of Odivelas, will have as structural pillars the preservation of the identity and memory of this specific territory and its people, enhancing their social and cultural values, covering an area that comprises several buildings classified as Monument, highlighting the Monastery of Saint Denis, the Main Church and the Odivelas Memorial Cruise, all in a Special Protection Zone. The plan will provide strategic options, guidelines and regulations set by the City Council, with whose services will be an ongoing dialogue throughout the development phases of the project plan. Methodology for the achievement of the Plan is based on structuring the project according to four main axes of intervention: 1 - Qualification of public space and the urban environment 2 - Promoting social cohesion and inclusion 3 - Socio-economic revitalization 4 - Activities valuing cultural and tourism promotion The appreciation of the historic centre of the urban environment is inextricably linked to the quality of public space, lacking a comprehensive qualitative intervention, global and plural. The goal is to create better conditions for comfort in the use of public space, while preserving the characteristics and image structure of the medieval town still clearly visible. Also, the creation of new parks and recreation or rehabilitation and upgrading of existing facilities resulting from this process, potential poles of promoting healthier lifestyles based on the use of outdoor spaces. The creation of diverse and multifunctional spaces that allow to recover the intergenerational socializing spaces still present in the memory of the population, but also cultural. These spaces that will take as reference elements in the context of the city, entertainment centers, are factors that attract people from more peripheral to this core contributing to the creation of a new centrality and socio-economic dynamics. In a perspective of integrated rehabilitation, the rehabilitation of urban space and the built heritage, is only viable if we develop simultaneously upgrading actions of the social fabric and improve the quality of life embodied in a socio-economic and cultural revitalization. SQUARE D. DINIS The capacity of this center in uniting different events, encouraging the diversity of urban functions in the collective space, and a significant improvement in accessibility, where the mobility of “Odivelenses” becomes an emotional journey in a privileged historic environment not purely contemplative, but above all experienced and dynamic. The rehabilitation of the whole area classified as "SAP" (Special Area of protection), with the architectural constraints implicit core values of monuments, sites and areas of cultural interest in social, spiritual, historical, artistic, aesthetic, natural and scientific, that depends on the relationship established between the object and its context namely in this case the environment or context of the Monastery of Saint Denis and the Memorial Cruise is one of the attributes of authenticity of architectural monuments or group that this plan wants to achieve
