Project Description: Concept design for this proposed new winery required the intricate weaving and coordination of wine tourism functions alongside the logistics and technical aspects of wine production. Located atop a hill, views from both within the building and from the programmed landscape elements (ampitheater, wine tasting patio, orchard) were carefully calibrated to take advantage of the stunning mountain and vineyard surroundings. Within the building, a visitors tour circuit was created that allowed for close viewing of each stage of the wine making process. Both the public and utilitarian functions of the building were celebrated equally in their architectural expression.
