'Type Variant' formed the basis of the concept, where one 'type' of object was taken to form a collection of similar types. Thus the structure is a combination of geometric blocks with composition of volumes. The project is an amalgamation of the interior and the exterior spaces with the transitional areas creating a smooth flow between the two. The age old technique of double walls has been used for this project which helps the structure sustain variations in temperature. Extreme weather conditions were considered while choosing material. Clad in ACP the structure has been designed with the largest flat roof as compared to the conventional pitched roofs in its surrounding. The interiors have been designed in simple play of volumes that create flowing spaces. Sky lights created flush with house with ample natural light. Although the final effect appears effortless & clean it belies the substantial technical, structural & elegance of forms. The project has won IIID Award for its innovative design and use of materials in 2009.
