Mona was born out of subtlety. The goal was to achieve an object that would dramatically alter an experience, by using the simplest gesture. Mona achieves this through is proportions and its design language. The eating surface of Mona is a shallow cavity that allows Mona to hold quantities of liquid that visually seem impossible; it lifts the eating surface away from the tabletop, elevating food to a height it seldom experiences. Mona’s dimensions and features recall other eating vessels, which makes Mona seem both familiar and foreign.
