Most Outstanding Grand Prize - Art D’Strada Competition, 2011 Inspired by the intricate look and weightless dance of a tumbleweed, the Whirling Færie attempts to fuse the pre-existing concepts of “durable and strong” and “flexible and fragile.” The circular steel coils, purchased from a junk yard, were separated then tied with wire into a twisted tension. A minimum of 4 rings were used to create the approximately 12” wide x 10” high sculpture.
