The program envisages the construction of a new building in a central area of Oporto’s downtown. The building was designed as a loft typology for housing purposes. We had the intention of a free living space allowing many different configurations and use types, adaptable to the users needs. The new volume accompanies the skyline of the adjacent buildings and grows from a pre-existing stone wall. The entire building structure and coating materials will be prefabricated to avoid high construction costs. The main objective of the proposal is to offer the market contemporary and urban housing typologies at low-cost prices. The team faces this project as a great opportunity to prove that an efficient and creative architecture does not necessarily have to be expensive and uncompetitive in the housing market.
