The Challenge: RESOR is a high-end law firm based in Amsterdam. The project was to design the new corporate RESOR office located in the Zuidas district in Amsterdam. The challenge - to design an interior that communicates trust, confidentiality and professionalism towards clients and at the same time attracts young and talented lawyers with its modern, stylish and transparent look & feel. The Play: Fokkema & Partners Architects realised this design challenge with the richness of materials chosen, the rhythm of the vertical light elements and the clear lines of the furniture. By placing confidentiality of work at the forefront, Fokkema & Partners designed the interior by separating the external meeting rooms from the daily work area without compromising transparency and lightness. The main entrance to the office space was designed to create a highly professional first impression for visitors and a key element of the design concept was translucent 3form Varia in Connection Pure as wall feature. 3form Connection Pure is also featured as key design elements through the space in furniture and office elements including the boardroom table, in the main lobby and in reading tables. The undulating lines of Connection on the soft shiny wall feature in the main entrance counterbalance the opposite wall that is clad in honey coloured bamboo. The strong lines in the Connection wall were further accentuated by adding a Supermatte finish on the front and back of the panel to achieve as much depth as possible. The impact of the wall was enhanced by the dark blue shade on the substrate wall. Except for the blue colour accents, the interior plan is realised in different shades of natural colours pivoting around a grayish blue core element within the main office working space. The soft shiny blue surface walls of the central working zone, contains accessible bookshelves, as even in this digital age, books are at the heart of the legal profession. This area is also is the location for office management, storage and office services like photocopying. To create design cohesion within the main client area the Varia Connection Pure panels have also been used as an inlay in the boardroom table and the reading tables. In other meeting room tables, the Connection Pure design was used as a printed inlay accent in the walnut tables. One of RESOR’s managing partners, Lucas Kortmann, commented ”in our business it is essential that upon arrival, clients and counterparties experience a highly professional law firm but at the same time it should not be overdone.” “This design concept and in particular the choice of 3form materials, have created an eye-catching and professional interiors with just the right balance.” The Result: The resulting interior has a distinctive and elegant look. The structure of Connection Pure gives an extra element of dimensionality with the richness of its material detail. 3form Varia Connection is part of 3form Full Circle - products that are developed in collaboration with skilled artisans around the world, from Africa to Nepal.
