Villa Girasole stands in the beauty of the hills and vineyards of Verona.
The house itself has a very strong identity and its own beauty seen
from an historical point of view.
How could we design an interior and a pavilion that could take the existing
elements and potentiate them? Taking a theoretical background
from the different modern movements we found that we could improve
the existing by considering architecture as an experience, the experience
that is perceived through space.
We propose ultimate simplicity and abstraction, by using only straight
horizontal and vertical lines and rectangular forms. Furthermore, the
formal vocabulary is limited to the primary and the three primary
values, black, white, and grey. The works avoids symmetry and attains
aesthetic balance by the use of opposition. This element of the movement
is embodied by the construction of crossing joints in the design.
This neoplastic concept of design is applied to the revolving part
(workshop+main expostion), the gallery (eating area) and the pavillion
(night area+exposition).
