The main idea of this project is to link the historical site with the around urban space, where people and art will be able to find their own identity without limitation of time and contemporary History, Present and Future can show their personal evolution, long the urban museum of Maters’ Houses.
The apartments are designed for a young couple with two children. The first level is composed with living dining room, kitchen, studio and a greenhouse, which is open toward the courtyard so that the interior and the courtyard becomes a single continuous room. And the young family can have a small garden into the house.
The study of the plan, of the prospects conceived at the same time as the building materials to be used has led to a construction based on green principles
The aim of the interior design concept of the Director’s house is to detach it from the outside world to build a space with an own identity and structure, there for the natural elements together with those of the construction will both be used as filters between the two areas.
The structure will be neither heavy nor intrusive, but blend harmoniously with the natural elements.
The creation of a building aimed at energy saving was complex and based on two fundamental points:
First point.
The construction of two rainwater catchments basins
The building of greenhouses,
Walls for solar/photovoltaic panels
Walls designed for thermal and acoustic insulation
Second point:
The plan and three dimensional shape of the buildings and colours of the building materials contribute to a harmonious living space where the dweller can find an inner tranquillity and thus uses the available utilities in a more sustainable manner
The shape of the building is the” translation” of energy into form; where the tenants are invited to see the infinitive forms of the landscape.
The curve wall of the greenhouse, also to be the main natural eating, it is a small winter garden so that day light diffuses into the rooms giving a soft ambient where it will be possible to have one only close/open space with the living- dining room and the kitchen.

The two straight red crossed lines are synonymous with the chaotic elements of modern society, and are the main structural- pillar of the building, through which, where the wind can be channelled to cool the apartments during summer

Open and closed spaces lose their 3d classical geometrical meaning to become part of Nature and the hinge between Dessau and the Bauhaus building
