It had come a time to deal with a post-war leftover yet impressive image of the commonly named "The Egg" in the citizens memory. The Concrete construction was a very popular theater during the 60's and still has that nostalgia until now and that gives it a historic valor on the patrimony side.
But what would be its future now that a multi-use complex is going to interfere on the same plot. Will we destruct it? Or preserve it? The keep/kill dilemma resided between proposals.
The final concept went down to appropriate the dome to the complex yet keep it exposed to the city. A steel structure box comes hugging the existing construction and hold other exploded blocs forming multiple functions yet keeping altogether as one unit. Voids and green areas pierce the mass at multiple levels and offer relaxation with spectacular views over Beirut.
