Italiana Hotel Milan | Caberlon Caroppi Italian Touch Architects

The building is the site of the historic Muggiani cotton mill (later the Unione Manifatture), an ancient factory for the spinning of cotton constructed in 1904 and restored at the end of the nineties. The architecture that characterizes the construction is symbolic of the industry at the beginning of the century and therefore the main building destined once to the production of fabrics, has been restored to safeguard these elements of archaeological manufacturing interest. In terms of logic of industrial archeology the art deco inspiration is the natural consequence of a desire to enhance the value of a structure and its historical-architectural features, and to recreate those atmospheres and moods that are inherent to it. This project is the result of a careful interpretation of architecture, the place and its history; a fusion of genius loci and contemporaneity, design and technology. The reference to vintage sensitively influences the perception of what is only seemingly a cold place, such as a factory that has shut down. The formal elegance of the big spaces combines perfectly with the functional requirements of the hotel and its need to offer guests a warm, inviting experience.
