Se pretende obtener un edificio que atienda a las orientaciones solares, a las ventilaciones cruzadas, a la necesidad de privacidad, de silencio, de reflexión y que genere espacios flexibles y adaptables en el tiempo a futuras necesidades. La primera decisión consiste en respetar el espacio libre, el patio a sur, entre la Biblioteca y el futuro edificio colindante del Servicio de Bienestar social. pero además se introduce un patio a norte que discurre a lo largo de dicha fachada. El empleo de este patio a norte, que en realidad son dos patios separados por el sistema de acceso al edificio, permite absorber las irregularidades de la parcela, resultado de su porción triangular, obteniendo una forma interior regular que admite un aprovechamiento mayor del espacio y las funciones a asignar. Los patios permiten al edificio desarrollar la idea de privacidad, a modo de fachada compuesta de capas. La primera es el muro que delimita y protege, a continuación tenemos el patio que enriquece y admite amplios acristalamientos que generan abundante de luz de norte así como una ventilación cruzada buscando la máxima eficiencia reduciendo consumos energéticos. Un lugar ideal para el estudio, la lectura, el conocimiento, la cultura… todo ello con materiales resistentes y de escaso mantenimiento, y que además se desarrolle con un proceso constructivo industrializado que admita los plazos de ejecución reducidos planteados en el pliego de condiciones del concurso. The aim is to achieve a building that takes the sun’s orientation into account, crossed ventilation, the need for privacy, silence, meditation and one that creates flexible spaces that can be adapted to future needs. The first decision consists of respecting free space, the south facing courtyard, located between the library and the future adjoining Social Welfare building, and a north facing courtyard is also added, running along the façade. This north courtyard, which is really two courtyards separated by the access system to the building, allows the irregularities of the plot to be corrected, which arise due to its triangular shape, thus obtaining a regular interior shape allowing better use to be made of it and of the functions to be assigned. The courtyards help to develop the idea of privacy, in the shape of a façade built in layers. The first one is the wall that marks the limits and protects. Then we have the courtyard, which enhances and includes wide glass windows to get abundant north light and crossed ventilation, aiming for maximum efficiency and reducing energy consumption. An ideal place to study, to read, to develop knowledge, culture... all of it built with tough materials, very low maintenance, and using an industrialised building process which will allow keeping within the short deadlines published in the tender conditions.
