This architecture is Alumni Pavilion of Kyoto Institute of Technology.
It was built as a pavilion for performing a schoolmate's exchange and office work of a class reunion in one corner of the campus of KIT.
The office, and an open meeting space and the conference room closed a little are established in the inside.
Two yards where character differs are planned by exterior space.
“The active yard” around which an approach slope turns is a space as which the motion which a look develops in the many directions is felt, and “the static yard which internal room face is the quiet place covered with white sand.
A roof and a wall are the monocoque panel structure in a wooden lattice.
This panel has secured rigidity by inserting the wooden lattice of a 910-mm module with a plywood for constructive use.
As the structure, by considering not the usual pillar-beam structure but a folded plate, space of a non-pillar and cantilever roof are realized.
This is produced by the ridge form also superficially leaned also in section.
The space covered with the big roof has produced the atmosphere which changed with change of ceiling height, though it is the continuous space.
With the angle to see, the overhung keen roof serves as various forms, and appears.
The roof form of this architecture is expressing the strong intention over a scholar.
In order to make natural draft possible, the open air inspiratory port and the way of the wind are established in the inside.
