919 Workshop idea was to turn a car repair warehouse into a AA- two floor office building. The main challenge consisted in re-using the existing elements and the materials as much as possible. The decision was to preserve the main structure: the double pitched roof and the steel beams that are sustained by a series of perimetral concrete columns. This intervention involved the demolition of all the brick walls and the new wrapping; a second skin compounded by panels of different materials, textures and colors, that bring light, materiality and visual continuity. On the interior, a second, yet independent structure was built for the mezzanine, supported mainly by two cast-concrete cores that contain the services.
