The territory is the plane on which our projects become architecture.

It is upon this that we build and what we see are the apparent forms, those that appear above said plane.
At the house of Alcoutins, the real form is that which has a plane at a level of 3,5 metres below the earth’s level as a support. It’s similar to a lake, in which the volumes float or settle at the bottom,
whereby only the part that appears above the water line can be seen. The production method for the house of Alcoutins is in accordance with the space that supports our projects, with the
implementation of a study scale model in balsa wood and Kline cardboard. Within said process, it is interesting to note the unscheduled, intuitive part, that which results from occasional activities free from any prejudice, except the result of the analysis of the objective constraints of the site and any regulating system for the architectural drawing.
This house is a contemporary of the house of Belas, with only a few weeks’ discrepancy from the project, and its form is also the result of the force of chance interfering in the process of composition based on a logic analysis. A discussion around the table, on which pieces of a scale model rested, left over from the model of said house, which in its untidy relationship waited for the hand that would free them from the probable destiny of the rubbish bin. Plans were defined while their eyes rested on the map of the land, memory reviewing the house’s operational programme and hands “playing” with pieces of cardboard; volumes were pitched and so was born the house of Alcoutins. Rationality and intuition in immeasurable times and proportions.
