It was not easy to find a large land which can accommodate large building. I thought I needed to find a place where it is just starting to breathe instead of place that is not breathing in order to accommodate my thoughts. I thought new Jeonju-si west town which is located in the center of the medium sized city construction in the Jeonlabuk-do. When I first encountered the place, apartments that were being constructed filled my eyes, but on top of the quiet and still hill was tombs from the three kingdoms of Korea; and the smell of Hwanggang lecture hall stimulated my nose. Moreover, the composure of Munhakdae was harmonious. This place was used as temporary landfill of the Jeonju-si in the near past, but it is developing with the mission of city construction. I thought such traces of history had to fusion with modernism with the idea of the preexisting architect so I vertically raised the abstract walls of mies which was being buried under the ground and being destroyed by the rooms to be exposed to outside. This will provide variety of experience through sitting down, blocking the vision, or providing coercion to the visitors. We planned it with complex characteristic thinking that tombs may relocate to this location or it may turn into a religious facility which can facilitate large number of people. All this with considering the fact that the population is small compared to nearby areas and is a large area.
