The notice of competition provided the expansion of existing primary school in Libano, a small town in the province of Belluno. The school, fits into a particular batch that includes the proximity to the west with the Nursery School, in the south and east we found residential units with different characteristics of settlement. and in the northern part there is access road and the main entrance. The project proposal, in the answer to the competition, has taken into account the relationship with the surroundings, the space that the extension would have occupied, proposing a new element that respects what already exists and maintains the property as indicated by distances regulation. The design intent was to create an extension of the existing school, maintaining the same profiles for the larger side of the school. A simple element that rests on a pedestal and in the same time marks the detachment with the ground and follows the same principle of the existing school in the enter side, where a foundation stone marks the relationship with the road. The children will enjoy the interior spaces and the view of the landscape trough the large windows in the classrooms and they will access trough a wooden door to the garden to play and outdoor lessons. Two different courts have been created to scan the spaces: the “internal” which is visible through a window and lets you from information space in the existing school, to the new classrooms; the “external” that allows access to the nursery and car parks through a gently sloping. Two clearly defined areas that in both cases arise as a filter between a dimension and the other. To differentiate these two spaces have been used two different material: for the internal space pebbles gravel, with the intent to mark a certain neutrality between the two parts of the school; for the external space with green lawn and a pomegranate tree with intent to create a “teaching” space where see and study the nature and the changing seasons. The interior space of the school has four classrooms for twenty-five seats each arranged in south and west side while the technical installations are under the internal court to recover space.
